Fall Programming Internship
This fall, put your skills to work on large-scale, software projects. Learn new technologies such as AI, .NET or Perl. from scratch, and work on actual projects that are intended for rapid deployment into our production environment for real-world use by our clients.
We are looking for 14 students to join our 3-month, paid internship in programming. This is a part-time internship program during which you will receive full support to continue your studies.
Technologies and projects
As an intern at Yardi Romania, you will be involved in the design and development of functional and performance enhancements for our existing, large-scale, real estate products. All this while being mentored by our senior software engineers. Here’s an overview of the technologies and projects you can get to know closely:
Kumo is a web crawler that aggregates content from thousands of real estates websites. Making use of Artificial Intelligence, it extracts information to enrich our property reports. As part of our Kumo AI team, you will work directly with our 10-GPU cluster and our collection of over 100 million document images while using cutting-edge technologies such as the Caffe deep learning framework, MITIE and OpenNLP for natural language processing, OpenCV for image processing, Hadoop, SOLR and Mongo for big data.
Rentcafe.com is a real estate web portal with 1.4M visits/month. The product is composed of multiple applications, including a C#, MVC 5, N-Layered structured website, a Web API that serves a mobile app and a set of scripts that automate the sitemaps generation and pre-populate data in our Redis cache servers.
Yardi Matrix is a real estate market intelligence platform that offers a full-spectrum level of information about an apartment property, such as apartment inventory status, sale activity, new development, or rental market conditions at just a click away. Technologies you will work with include .NET, SQL Server, SSRS.
Learn Perl and Oracle while having the opportunity to work with ~10 TB of data files (Oracle) that are organized in ~44,000 tables, plus 15 TB images (MySQL) that provide us information on ~110 million real estate properties from ~800 counties in the US. You will be loading different file types such as PDF, XLS (X), DBF, XML, Fixed-Width into a final table (database) or accessing, parsing and integrating different websites into our PropertyShark database.
There are internships where interns work on some small projects and they do nothing with them. Here, I got to work on the actual product and this helped me gain a lot of experience – says Rebeca Cuciula, former intern, now Software Development Engineer with Yardi’s Kumo AI team.
What do I need to know?
We welcome all talented candidates who can prove a good command of fundamental programming skills, who are self-directed, and able to get things done efficiently. Strong analytical thinking, SQL knowledge, and passion for technology are a must for this internship. No previous work experience is required, but the willingness to learn.
Am I eligible for this internship?
This program is open to students who are currently enrolled at an accredited university in Cluj-Napoca in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of bachelor, master or Ph.D. studies.
