Daring to Change the Game: Andrei, from Theology to Customer Care
When he was just a child, Andrei had a dream. In his search for meaning and answers about the purpose of life, he decided to become a priest. But life has a way of surprising us in the most unexpected ways.
Andrei found passion in helping others in a slightly different way than he originally planned. He is one of our star Customer Care colleagues, being a Senior Team Leader at the Yardi Call Center and inspiring others every day.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Most of my life I wanted to become a priest. At 8 years old I started being fascinated with existentialism, so I started looking for answers about the origin and purpose of life. At that point it seemed like theology had all the answers, so almost every day, after school I dedicated at least 1 hour to studying the Christian dogma and spirituality. I would like to add that no one in my family was religious, I was the one who started this trend :D. This fascination with metaphysics continued into my early adulthood when I discovered that the world is a little more complicated than I initially thought. I was in my second year of college when I started reading short studies on anthropology; I also discovered Stephen Hawking’s “A short history of time”, Richard Dawkins’ “The selfish gene” and other books that made me change perspective.
What did you study?
I have a degree in Christian Theology.
Which field did you start your career in?
As soon as I graduated from college I got a job as a sales representative in a call center. Apparently, I was really good at it, because just 4 months later I was promoted to a Team Leader position. Since then I have only been working in customer service.
Where are you now professionally speaking? Would you change anything about your career path so far?
My Yardi Romania journey started 5 years ago. I worked as a customer service rep for 9 months, then I was promoted to Team Leader. Since December 2016 I hold the position of Senior Team Leader. I must say that I’m very satisfied with my career so far, so I don’t believe that I would change anything. My main goal at this point is to continue developing my communication and leadership skills, and I believe that this job is perfect for me.
