Database Administrator

The Database Administrator is responsible with the availability, performance and security of the company database systems. Plans, designs, maintains, develops, troubleshoots, tests and implements the company database systems. Communicates efficiently and openly, works well as part of a team as well as individually and is oriented towards technical and personal improvement.
​We are open to entry-level candidates as well as candidates with previous professional experience.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience with managing Relational Database Management Systems
  • Experience with installing, maintaining and optimizing Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server software
  • Experience with writing and optimizing SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL
  • Experience with Database performance tuning
  • Experience with Operating Systems
  • Independent problem solving and analysis skills
  • Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Actively participates in the on-call rotation if required and follows the processes and procedures agreed upon within the team/department/company.

What you'll do:

  • Maintains high up-time for the production and development database systems
  • Configures, troubleshoots, offers support and resolves database system problems
  • Ensures that there is a high level of safety and security for the database systems
  • Actively monitors and optimizes the performance of the database systems
  • Properly schedules maintenance for the database systems and the applications that depend on them for ensuring maximum possible availability and performance with a minimum number of errors
  • Implements all database system level solutions ensuring a high level of availability for the applications that depend on these systems
  • Monitors and reacts timely to alerts
  • Communicates with the support team from Microsoft or Oracle when needed
  • Keeps documentation for the database systems up-to-date
  • Actively involved in team and department level projects
  • Collaborates openly and efficiently with other teams and departments
  • Assumes ownership and accountability of assigned tasks without throwing them over the wall for some other team to resolve
  • Notifies the team and the manager of problems immediately and works efficiently with the team, manager and other teams as needed to resolve them
  • Helps out colleagues when possible and when needed
  • Researches and proposes new ways of improving our technology stack and our workflow
  • Respects deadlines
  • Actively works to improve both technically and in soft-skills
