Hi there! I’m Alexandra, and I’m here to tell you what working at Yardi Romania looks like, through the voices and stories of the people who have been here for while.

Since you’re here, you might be curious – maybe about one of our jobs, or maybe just about who we are.

Yardi Romania is a software development company that’s been part of the Cluj-Napoca tech scene for over 15 years, building great software and an even greater team. And since we’ve been growing steadily since 2010, our programming teams have expanded along with us, with now over 100 members, and plenty of exciting new job opportunities.

So that got me thinking:

Why would a talented software developer (maybe even you) consider working here?

To find out, I sat down with a couple of mid-to-senior colleagues from the Product Development Department. I wanted to hear firsthand what they enjoy about working here, what keeps them motivated, and why Yardi feels like the right place for them.

So, what do people really appreciate about working at Yardi Romania?

1. Yardi is a Product Company. And That Really Matters

One of the first things my colleagues mentioned about Yardi is that we’re a product company. And yes, that makes a real difference.

Because we build and maintain our own software products – and not client-based projects – there’s a sense of long-term stability that people here really value. The tech might not always be the newest, but the products are solid, here to stay, and well understood by the people leading the teams.

Claudiu, Principal Software Development Engineer who joined Yardi a little over a year ago, shared that switching from outsourcing to a product-based environment gave him “the opportunity to focus on quality and creativity without the unnecessary stress”.

Working on long-term products also means less chaos and more clarity. Instead of rushing to meet constantly changing client demands, developers can dive deeper into their work, form a stronger connection to what they’re building, and feel a sense of ownership over the code they write.

2. The Work-Life Balance That Actually Makes Sense

The second thing that came up a lot? The fact that work-life balance really seems to matter here. No Teams messages after hours, no overwhelming workload, and overall, the vibe is quite relaxed.

As Adrian, Software Development Engineer who’s been at Yardi for over 6 years put it: “the work-life balance is excellent: overtime is the exception, never the rule, so I have the headspace to stay creative and the free time to stay happy”. This respect for personal time means that vacations, evenings, and weekends are truly yours.

This approach creates a healthier rhythm as you can give your best energy at work knowing that your free time will be protected. For many developers, this balance is what makes it possible to stay motivated long term: because it’s easier to grow professionally when you also have space to enjoy life outside of work.

3. The Mentorship They Wish They Previously Had

Getting mentorship from the very beginning was something several colleagues said they really valued when they joined Yardi. They pointed out that managers here know the products inside out and are happy to answer questions, which made settling in feel a lot more welcoming.

Instead of being left to figure things out alone, new developers have someone to guide them, answer questions, and make sure they build confidence early on. Larisa, Software Development Engineer who’s been at Yardi for almost 3 years, shared that she’s consistently received support from her manager and highlighted how her colleagues are “always eager to help, improve, and grow together”.

That supportive start is something many wish they had experienced earlier in their careers and one of the reasons they feel Yardi is a great place to keep developing.

4. An Agile Culture That Works

Another thing that came up again and again in conversations with our colleagues was how smoothly things move at Yardi.

Silvana, who has been part of Yardi for more than 9 years and is now a Technical Project Leader, noted that during challenging times “the team was the real asset that got things done.” Another colleague added that, compared to his previous job, “things get done quickly, and you can talk directly to managers.” This openness means fewer roadblocks, faster decision-making, and a sense that your input really matters. Plus, with other specialists covering their areas of expertise, developers can focus on what they do best: writing clean, effective code.

The result? An agile culture that’s not just a buzzword, but something people feel day to day.

5. There’s Plenty of Room to Grow

Last but definitely not least, our colleagues mentioned that personal and professional growth is something you can find at Yardi.

Lucian, Software Development Engineer who returned to Yardi a year and a half ago, shared how he’s had the chance to grow in many directions, like stepping into more responsibility, mentoring peers, attending in-house courses, training over 100 new colleagues, and leading a team of seven. In his words: “opportunities for improvement are always within reach.”

No matter how you want to grow, whether through learning or leveling up your skills, Yardi can give you the space to do it.

But hey, no place is perfect, right? So, after hearing all the good stuff, I had to ask the obvious next question:

If you could improve something at Yardi Romania, what would it be?

1. Technology Evolves Gradually Here

Colleagues pointed out that while Yardi’s tech stack is solid and reliable, it sometimes lags behind tech trends. New tools or frameworks may not be adopted instantly, because stability and long-term maintainability are key when you are building products designed to last for decades. This approach may not satisfy those who thrive on constant change. However, it reflects a conscious choice to prioritize reliability and for developers who appreciate the chance to deeply understand a platform, this could be a real advantage.

Still, managers value input from employees and remain open to testing innovations that colleagues bring forward. By combining reliable products with ideas welcomed from within the team, Yardi has sustained its relevance and success in the market for over 40 years.

2. Strengthening Our Software Brand

When colleagues mention that they work at Yardi, the first reaction they get isn’t always about software development. Some people might think of our customer support, research, or marketing departments instead. Colleagues in our focus group all agreed that from the outside, this mix can make it harder to immediately recognize our strong presence in the software development world.

That’s because Yardi is a large, multifaceted company, with many teams contributing to different parts of the business.

So while Yardi Romania might mean different things to different people, for those working in development it’s clear: software is at the core of what we do. And that leads us straight to the bigger picture.

So, what’s the main takeaway?

Yardi is, above all, a software development company that builds and maintains its own long-standing products.

What do our colleagues like most? The stability offered by a product company, the work-life balance that works, managers who genuinely support growth, quick solutions when challenges come up, and plenty of chances to learn and level up.

Of course, there’s always room for improvement and together with our teams, we strive to constantly get better.
