Hi, I’m Alexandra, and I’m back with a new article – this time focusing on the journeys of our digital marketing interns at Yardi Romania.
As a fellow marketer, I was curious: what is it really like to start out as a digital marketing intern, crafting impactful ads and helping websites perform better for our real estate clients?
So, I did the math: four SEO Specialists (Oana, Alisa, Camelia, and Paula) plus six PPC Specialists (Mara, Helena, Andreea, Andrei, Vanessa, and Cristian) equals ten former interns who were happy to share their experiences, insights, and key lessons learned along the way.
How did they find the internship?
Short answer: LinkedIn.
Long answer: LinkedIn, eye-catching Instagram posts, and a nudge from a university professor.
Finding our internships is super easy: we always post them on our Careers page and LinkedIn, and we hype them up on Instagram and Facebook too. All you have to do is check out the job ad, read the details, and see if it feels like your kind of opportunity.
The Application & Hiring Experience
When it came to experience, pretty much everyone started with very little to none. Most of them relied on what they’d learned in university, volunteering, or self-study. What really mattered during the selection process wasn’t experience, but motivation and being well prepared on relevant topics.
The application process? Easy. Upload your CV and explain why you want to apply.
The selection process? A technical test, followed by an interview, all clear, well organized, and with friendly interviewers who made everyone feel comfortable throughout.
As Andrei put it, the experience was “intense, but also fun.” Mara admitted it felt a bit intimidating at first but quickly turned into something genuinely rewarding.
The test seemed challenging at first, but interns really appreciated how fast their questions were answered and how helpful the preparation resources were. Vanessa summed it up perfectly: “I especially appreciated receiving guidance about the test and what to prepare beforehand, as this made the process more transparent and reduced potential confusion regarding the requirements,” helping the overall experience feel “fair, supportive, and well designed for candidates with different levels of experience”.
So… Did they enjoy the internship?
Cristian put it very straightforward: “From the beginning we only learned the things that help us in our job.” – crafting high-performing ads, in his case.
All 10 of them felt it was both valuable and enjoyable, gaining skills they could use right away, strong support from their teams, and real insight into how a large company works.
Up next, mentors & friendships – what a fantastic combo! As Paula noted during her journey into search engine optimization, “we had great mentors who encouraged us to ask as many questions as needed and were very patient throughout the process.” Just as important, many interns formed genuine friendships with their fellow colleagues, making the experience even more rewarding.

For many, it was also their first time working in a corporate environment. Alongside learning all about pay-per-click ads, Helena enjoyed “seeing how a large corporation operates on a daily basis,” while others found it eye-opening to work with real tools, workflows and responsibilities.
From Interns to Full-Time Employees
For some, the internship meant two to three months of learning. However, for 10 out of 21 interns in 2025, it turned into a full-time role. For those who continued their journey, I dived deeper into how that transition went, so stick around if you’re curious.
They said the move to full time was smooth and felt like a natural next step. Knowing the team, tools, and workflows made everything easier, while the buddy program provided solid onboarding support as interns stepped into full responsibilities. As Oana shared, “I was assigned a buddy who supported me throughout the onboarding process and was always available to answer my questions and explain things clearly.”
Their Experience Since Joining Full-Time
Mara shared that while the internship laid a solid foundation, becoming full-time allowed her to take on new challenges and better understand her own strengths, supported by the team’s friendly atmosphere and continuous guidance. Camelia echoed this feeling, saying she’s “learning something new every single day,” and that taking ownership of her own clients has been especially fulfilling.
For Andrei, the biggest change was moving from closely supervised work to making real decisions. He shared that the internship helped him understand “the ins and outs of PPC,” and that seeing tangible results for clients is especially rewarding. At the same time, working with beautiful and fun people has made him “enjoy going to the office and socializing with everyone”.

And if you made it this far into the article, here’s something extra:
BONUS: 5 Tips from Our Specialists
Alisa: Be open and proactive and take advantage of the support and feedback offered by the team.
Vanessa: Stay curious and focus on learning rather than stressing about making mistakes.
Paula: Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you need, no matter how silly they may sound in your head at that moment.
Mara: Take things step by step and trust that everything works out in the end.
Camelia: Be present. Be present in the relationships you build, in everything you learn, and in every task, you take on.
Everyone agreed on one thing: enjoy the experience and make the most of it. Stay curious, ask questions, and be open to learning – it really makes a difference.
